Karin came to our boudoir studio in Los Angeles looking for an empowering session that would help her, in her words, SHINE. Here’s more of what she said about her why for having her photos taken:
“I’m at a pivotal moment in my life where I’m choosing to love myself exactly as I am, and I’m excited to spread a message about the importance of self love to others. While I work a corporate job, I’m also launching a coaching business focusing on (women’s) empowerment.”
We had an incredible time helping Karin capture these photos and are thrilled to share her post-photo shoot interview + gallery today. Read all about her empowering experience with us below.
Q: What made you want to schedule your boudoir session with Lindsay Carlisle Boudoir Studio?
Q: What were some of your biggest concerns about having your intimate photos taken?
“I have historically had long-standing body image issues which can be triggered when I decide to do photo shoots. I know many women can relate. I didn’t want to feel “pressured” in the weeks leading up to the shoot to starve or punish myself in a desperate attempt to feel (and look) any “thinner” or “prettier” than I am already. I was in a place where I felt prepared to face down my own insecurities. Seeing Lindsay’s past work with the variety of beautiful women as photo subjects really allowed me to feel relaxed and excited for the shoot, instead of anxious.”
A: “I felt excited! I deliberately created anticipation by envisioning how much fun I would have and also did some grounding work to help me feel especially connected to my body. I knew intuitively that self consciousness would create somewhat of a “barrier” between myself and the camera so I prepped myself mentally to cultivate safety and trust within my own body with the intention of allowing myself to be seen fully, both inside and out!”
A: “It felt amazing to be welcomed into Lindsay’s space where I was immediately greeted by her hair and makeup expert. It was reassuring to have a professional taking care of these very important aspects for me. And once we began the actual shoot, I felt at ease by Lindsay’s confidence and her “artist’s” eye for lighting. I’m not very good at posing myself and she took all of that on by demonstrating various poses for me to follow and catching on quickly to what was working (or not) from a photographer’s standpoint. She was also helpful in offering feedback on some of the wardrobe I brought in. I felt my essence shining from the inside out, which was the experience I absolutely desired to create!”
A: “I was so beyond impressed with how the photos turned out. I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with the images as much as I would! I saw myself in a whole new light…via the lens of Lindsay’s expert eye and camera lens. I love that I have such beautiful images of myself which I’ll treasure forever.”
A: “There’s no question that if you’re reading this, or considering it at all, you must do it! It’s worth it and you won’t be sorry. This is something that you can choose to do FOR YOU and you alone. And of course you may think about sharing the results of your shoot with others. But ultimately, doing this shoot is an act of self love and full acceptance of your beautiful body NOW…for YOU! There’s something about documenting this moment in your own journey. You are capturing yourself in a moment in time, showing yourself *literally* the best possible light. I’m so happy that I decided to take the plunge!”
