Himalayan Salt
These are not only cool to look at but have healing abilities. The most important one is to detox the atmosphere and reduce stress. Some other health benefits are improving respiratory diseases, balancing your body’s pH, reducing signs of aging, improving sleep quality, regulating blood sugar, and increasing libido.
Similar to the salt lamps, himalayan salt inhalers can be taken with you. They help to boost your immune system and to clear sinuses and lungs. They are also beneficial for your respiratory system.
Plants
Plants are your friends. They release oxygen into the air, a scarce resource that we all need more of. Certain plants also detox the air. Double up by buying fresh herbs and medicinal plants like aloe vera to have around the home to cook with and have on hand for emergencies.
Don’t forget to talk and sing to them. Love and kind words promote growth, in people and in plants! Aloe vera purifies the air and its inner salve is a salve for cuts and burns (also anti-aging). Snake Plant not only detoxifies the air but releases extra oxygen. Boston Ferns not only help to rid the home of harmful toxins but also improve humidity by helping to restore moisture to the air, which can help a taxed respiratory system.
Oil Pulling
This is an old ayurvedic technique of swishing coconut or other natural oils in your mouth from 2 to 15 minutes. Your tongue is like your feet (whaat?!) where all parts of your body are represented in this area. The swishing of the oil detoxes your body and also helps remove hidden plaque. Oil pulling is a natural and ancient remedy to heal and prevent sickness. Some benefits of oil pulling are that it soothes dry throat, kills bad breath, whitens teeth, reduces inflammation, and boosts immune system.
It’s easy! Just take a small amount about 1 to 2 tablespoons of a natural oil such as coconut, almond, or sesame into your mouth and swish all around being sure to get between your teeth. You will be able to work up to more time but most people start off at about 2 minutes or until their cheeks get tired. BE SURE to spit the oil in the toilet NOT the sink. When oils get cold they will block your pipes. DO NOT SWALLOW the oil in your mouth. The oil you have swished is full of toxins that it has pulled out of your body. As a few weeks pass of you doing this once or twice daily, you will feel and see the benefits such as clearer skin and more energy.
Copper Water
Water that has sat for at least 8 hours in a copper vessel, copper water helps you lose weight, is anti-viral, lowers toxicity, strengthens the immune system, and so much more that we cannot nearly touch on all of it. Add this to your learning section and browse Amazon for the prettiest copper water bottles from the comfort of your home. A few benefits include building the immune system, stimulating the brain, slowing the aging process, and reducing arthritis pain.
Once you have found the perfect copper water bottle, be sure to wash it with a squirt of lemon and water. Baking soda can also be used. Then fill with purified water and set for a minimum of 8 to a maximum of 12 hours. It is not recommended to let it sit for longer than that. It is a good idea to do this at night before you got to bed and then drink your water over a few minutes in the morning on an empty stomach. Once a day is enough.
Dry brushing
Keep it simple. Dry brushing is exactly what it sounds like. A natural bristle brush is used to lightly brush the surface of your skin. It is invigorating and soothing. It has been used in many ancient cultures. Some benefits include exfoliation, circulation, detoxification, and stimulation of the lymphatic system.
Dry brushing is simple but there is a technique to it. You want to always brush towards your heart for the best circulation and lymph flow. Start at your feet and brush the from the sole up your legs in long, smooth strokes. I typically brush each section of skin 10 times. As a good rule of thumb, always brush toward the center of the body. Repeat the same process with your arms, starting with the palms of the hands and brushing up your arm toward the heart.
It is important on the stomach and armpits to brush in a circular clockwise motion a bit more gently. This should feel good and stimulate circulation but not feel like a road rash. 😉
Then repeat the process on your abdomen and back. This technique is great for your face just switch to a more delicate brush.
Self-massage
Self-massage is a simple, nourishing way to connect with yourself through touch. We often think others ought to be the ones to give us the touch we crave- however, we too can provide ourselves an amazing gift through our own hands.
With a warmed up natural oil and a comfy place to relax, you can take yourself on a soft, sensual journey into your own body and being. Exploring a range of light caresses to stronger pressure will create an experience of self-discovery and pleasure.
The deeper connection with your body, your feelings, and yourself will naturally arise through a self-guided journey with your hands, presence, and breath.

SELF-EXPLORATION
Oracle Cards
Have a lot of extra time on your hands? Learn how to read tarot, runes, and other oracles to find out more about your path and journey in life. Often you will discover parts of you that have been forgotten or undiscovered. Oracles readings can strengthen your connection to Spirit and the Divine and help ease worry and stress. This connection helps you to feel less alone and more supported. Having more clarity give you more confidence. A reading may give you a different perspective and a new way to see your choices. Intuition is reinforced by how the oracle synchronizes with your “gut” feelings, even in hindsight.
The easiest way to start with the practice of oracle reading is to simply mix the cards, runes, crystals, etc. while thinking of a question or of what you would like to clarify. Then run your hand over the oracle with your eyes closed (no cheating!) and feel for the one that magnetizes to your hand. It may take some time to recognize this feeling but it will be like breathing soon. Another way is to place the cards upside down and, again, feel or sense which one is calling to you.
Meditation
Meditation is one of the most powerful health tools in existence. It has been proven to help relieve stress, aligns us with our highest vision, strengthens our immune system, promotes better sleep, slows down thoughts of worry or panic, and benefits every area of our lives when practiced regularly.
The early morning meditation ritual of Sadhana encourages us to rise before the sun to meditate. It is believed that our sub-conscious is most active and alert in the 2-3 hours before the sun rises. Many devoted yogis will begin meditation at 4 am or soon after. This is the hour when we’ll receive the most downloads from the universe and can be really eye-opening for many! Don’t want to get up at 4 am? We hear you. The earlier the better though. Your intuition will thank you.
Journaling
This easy but powerful tool often gets pushed to the absolute back burner because, well…we’re busy. Getting our thoughts and feelings out of us and onto paper though is one of the first and most important steps we can take to healthy self-expression. When we express what’s on our minds and hearts and put it out into the universe, we not only feel a weight lifted, but we feel heard. Validated. Even if no one is listening but your higher power. It’s out there and it’s more powerful and healing than you might think.
Give it a try over these next few weeks and see how you feel. Journaling can be just a purge of thoughts, an acknowledgement of successes, lists of desires to manifest, or an expression of gratitude.
Positive Self-Affirmations
Whether you’re preparing for your first boudoir photo session or you’re, you know, fumbling through a global pandemic, positive self-affirmations are powerful and can help ease worry and flip those self-deprecating thoughts around.
Talk your cells into being in balance. Sickness is caused by imbalance. So talk to your thighs, to your back, to your cellulite, to your stomach that you wish were flatter, to your beautiful curves, to your chest, to your smile, to your eyes. Encourage them to feel good. Tell yourself that you are strong, capable, resourceful, abundant, beautiful and loved.
We hope these tips for self-care at home have inspired you to go inward, reconnect with yourself and take exceptional care of yourself…not only while in crisis mode but as a consistent daily practice.
