“It was so freeing and liberating to get out there.
The complete exposure during the shoot was like shedding layers that I had built up around myself like a type of protection. Lindsay’s encouragement helped me to step outside my comfort zone and prevented any of the fears that I had had before the shoot from quelling up into my mind.”
Alyson came to my Oakland studio from out of state- I love to see that kind of dedication! We had an absolute blast getting to know each other during her photo session, bonding over our shared love of travel, and of course capturing her gorgeous images. Read all about Alyson’s boudoir experience below in her post-session interview and then drop us a note in the comments or on the contact page for more info…

Q: What made you want to schedule a boudoir session with Lindsay Carlisle Boudoir?
A: One of my coworkers actually did a photo shoot with Lindsay and just RAVED about the experience. Boudoir was something that I had thought about doing but I never felt like I had the confidence to transform into all of the other beautiful goddess women that were present on Lindsay’s social media accounts. My coworker assured me that experience was worth it and, before I knew it, I had booked a session with her through her “model call” email.
Q: How did you feel the days leading up to your photo session?
A: Anxiety – tons of it. I had never even worn lingerie before, opting for the more sweatpants sexy ensemble to cover up what I deemed my “imperfections”. I looked towards her social media accounts to get an idea of what the photo shoot would entail and didn’t think that I would be able to mirror their confidence, which just got me more nervous about the shoot. Plus, I opted for an outside photo shoot with Lindsay and worried about other people seeing me at my most vulnerable. I kind of went all out but, looking back on the experience, I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone!
Q: How did you feel during the actual photo shoot?
A: I thought I would be nervous throughout the shoot, but, as soon as I walked in and met Lindsay, all my nerves melted away. She instantly made me feel comfortable and reminded me of why I was doing this shoot — for myself. It was so freeing and liberating to get out there. The complete exposure during the shoot was like shedding layers that I had built up around myself like a type of protection. Lindsay’s encouragement helped me to step outside my comfort zone and prevented any of the fears that I had had before the shoot from quelling up into my mind.
Q; Did having your boudoir photos taken help shape your ideas about self-love and body acceptance?
A: Oh, totally. We’re constantly bombarded by the media on what the “ideal” women body should look like. On the opposite side, of course, there are campaigns that try to encourage women to take back that model stereotype, and that all women bodies are beautiful. While the latter is indeed true, it’s difficult in this day and age to not have some type of body insecurities. Body confidence is something that I’ve been working on for a while and, this photo shoot helped me take that next step in a positive direction. Nobody looks the same, and that’s what makes us unique. The photo shoot helped me to claim, take back, and own my own narrative regarding my body, which is a super powerful thing.
Q: How do you feel now, post boudoir session? Would you do it again?
A: After the photo shoot, I felt excited to see the photos. The turnaround was super quick, something that was great for me, as I can be an impatient person. I would do a boudoir photo shoot with Lindsay 100 times over! She is super professional, kind, comforting, and encouraging. These types of shoots, particularly for a beginner like me, can instill anxiety, as we are completely vulnerable and don’t have anything to really hide behind. But exposure, in it’s complete sense, is the most freeing aspect of all.
